A 48-year-old man allegedly strangled his 12-year-old son to death for asking for ₹10 in Jharkhand's Chatra district on Monday, police said.
The incident took place in Karailibar village under Bashishtnagar police station area, about 200 km from Ranchi.
"Both the parents of the boy, identified as Pappu Kumar, were in a drunken state around 9 am and were arguing when the boy demanded ₹10 from his father, prompting a violent reaction from the accused, identified as Bilesh Bhuiyan," Bashishtnagar. Ghulam Sarwar, who is in charge of the police station, said.
Prima facie it appears that the boy was strangled to death by his father, he said, adding that it was not yet known why the boy was asking for ₹10.
The incident came to light when the 15-year-old sister of the deceased returned home after working at the brick kiln and raised the alarm.
The accused was arrested and the body sent for post-mortem, he added.
